James R. Turner, Sr., of Covington, passed away May 12, 2010, at the age of 67. Mr. Turner was a member of First Baptist Church, in Helen, GA. He loved spending time in the mountains of Northern Georgia. Mr. Turner enjoyed playing golf, watching Nascar racing, and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan. He also enjoyed landscaping and yard work. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Bernice (Hardy) Turner. Survivors include his loving wife, Cecilia (Miller) Turner of Covington; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Brad Jones of Melbourne, FL; sons and daughter-in-law, James R. and Stephanie Turner of Oviedo, FL, Stephen D. Turner of Atlanta; brother, Sammy Cecil Turner of Augusta; grandchildren, Bryson, Hayden and Carson Turner, Joshua and Jessica Jones. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, GA, Friday, May 14, 2010, from 5-7 PM; and Monday, May 17, 2010, at Posey’s Funeral Home, 1307 Georgia Ave., North Augusta, SC 29841, from 1:00 – 2:30 PM. A Graveside Service for Mr. Turner will follow at 3 PM, at Westover Memorial Park, in Augusta, GA.
