Mr. James F. "Ted" Neely Sr., 85, a lifelong resident of Covington, died Nov. 11. The son of the late Fred G. and Bamie Dobbs Neely, he was born in 1923 in Dooley County. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II, serving under General Patton. He was a self-employed farmer and had been a member of Shiloh Methodist Church since the 1930s. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary C. Neely and son Allen Neely.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Tony Bowden of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Freddy and Patricia Neely of Covington; grandchildren Lisa Long, Beth Cope, Clint Neely, Tonya Paramore, Chrystal Hutcheson; four great-grandchildren; special friends Dianne Bentley, Earl and Carol Thompson; numerous other family and close friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 14, at Shiloh Methodist Church. The body will be in the church at 1 p.m. The Rev. John Dallas and the Rev. Mike Nicklich will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
