James E. “Big E” King, Sr., 84 of Mansfield, passed away April 24, 2016.

Mr. King was preceded in death by his parents, James Jerry and Lucy (Odum) King. Mr. King and Frank Stokes started Dekalb Pipeline Co. in 1960 in Tucker. In the late 1960s they formed Readymade Concrete Products, which later changed to Southeast Precast. In 1970 this company was sold and Mr. King became sole owner of Dekalb Pipeline. The company remained in Tucker until 1998 when it was relocated to Conyers and Mr. King stayed actively involved in the business until the late 90s. In 1971 Mr. and Mrs. King moved their family from Dekalb County to Mansfield, where they still live. After retiring in the late 90s, he continued to work daily on his farm until the last few weeks when his health declined.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years, Kitty King of Mansfield; daughter and son-in-law, Dye and Harry Galloway; son and daughter-in-law, James E, Jr., and Sandy King, all of Newborn; grandchildren, James Earl King, III “Ethree”, Eli Galloway, Kit King, Ethan Galloway, Lillie King, Ezra King, Ella King; sister and brother-in-law, Julie and Bobby Timms, of Gattis; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Mr. King will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 11 a.m., at Mansfield Baptist Church, 101 Woodlawn Road, in Mansfield, with Dr. Jeff Perkins officiating. Interment followed in Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284 or American Diabetes Association, 225 Peachtree Street NE, Suite No. 550, Atlanta, GA 30303.

Mr. Wesley Berg, aged 67, of Newborn, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1958, in Atlanta. Mr. Berg grew up in Decatur and graduated from Shamrock High School. He was a dedicated Christian who had a passion for mission work and helping others, frequently traveling to disaster-stricken areas to assist those in need. Mr. Berg was a committed member of Centennial Baptist Church. As a hardworking individual, he owned and operated Berg Heating and Air.

He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Margine Tribble, and his stepsister, Lynn Daniel. Mr. Berg is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dawn Berg; his siblings, Vincent Berg, Judy Berg, Katherine Berg, Karen Berg, and Krysten Berg; his stepbrother, Bobby Tribble, and Carol Schneider; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2025, at Centennial Baptist Church, 5321 Brownwood Rd, Rutledge, GA 30663, with Reverend Terry Richardson and Reverend Wilburn Hill officiating.
