 Ina Ellen Tanner, of White Plains, died January 5, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center, at the age of 79. Formerly of Covington, Mrs. Tanner had made her home in White Plains for the past 13 years where she was a very active member of Mt. Stephens Baptist Church. She was employed by Walmart for 20 years and after retiring was a very active volunteer for the American Red Cross and Project Linus. Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon A. Tanner.

 

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Mark Harville of Newborn, Daryl and Martha Tanner Bouts of Social Circle; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Tanner of White Plains, Jimmy and Saba Tanner of Covington, David and Karen Tanner of Parma, OH, Glen and Mim Tanner of Covington, Darrell and Cathy Tanner of Covington; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Davis and Louise Snyder of Soddy-Daisy, TN, Jewel Diezel of Orange Co., CA; brother, Ralph Burchard of Soddy-Daisy, TN; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Tanner will be held Friday, January 9, 2:00 PM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Dennis Garner officiating and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Flowers are acceptable, but family prefers donations be made to American Red Cross, East Atlanta Chapter, 440 Pulaski St., Athens, GA 30601 or Project Linus, Middle GA Chapter, % Judy Lawton, 102 Lakeside Dr., Buckhead, GA 30625. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan on Thursday, January 8, from 5:00 - 8:30 PM.
