Mr. Horace Horton died Oct. 22 due to a tragic car accident. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Maxie (Anna Felmon Glass) Horton Sr., he was born in 1957 in Morgan County, the third of eight children. He was preceded in death by brother Darron. Affectionately called "chocolate Chip," Mr. Horton was raised and educated in Morgan County joining Pleasant Grove Baptist church at a young age. He was employed as a technician at Barton Southern Company. Whatever he did, he did to perfection and worked hard to get what he needed or wanted. Mr. Horton was also an artist and loved to dance. Most of all he loved his family, especially his son and grandchildren.

Surviving are his son Sinacae (Quinisha) Taylor; grandchildren Quartavious Taylor, Sindarrion Taylor, Sha Mirria Taylor, Marquaysia Griffin and Ty-Corriana Clay; step-grandchildren Remeria Vinson, Dystani Hunter; sisters Betty A. (Mike) Williams, Shirley Wilborn, Angela Horton; brothers Ricky Horton, Maxie Horton Jr., Ernest "Buck" Horton; aunts Willie Pearl Rogers, Mamie Williams, Gracie Scott, Hattie Butts, Hattie Horton; special niece Lynetta Thomas Price; a host of other loving nieces and nephews; special friends Johnny Shy, Deborah Simmons, Annie Jo Henson, Bobby Maddox; other loving relatives and dear friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 29, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Newborn, with the Rev. Tamara Rogers and the Rev. Alfred Murray presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
