Mr. Henry James Broadnaxe was born Oct. 21, 1946 in Eatonton to Annie Nora Thomas, who preceded him in death. He attended school and graduated from R. L. Cousins High School, Class of 1965.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and served three years, serving in the Vietnam War. In Vietnam, he earned the Bronze Star Service Medal as a sharpshooter. After returning from Vietnam and discharging from the Army, he was employed with Lithonia Lighting for 31 years until his retirement.

“Hen” as he preferred to be called was an avid gun collector as well as an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a huge sports fan and could be seen watching a Western on any given day.

Hen was also a meticulous dresser. “I have never seen a man go to work at a factory with white or beige pants on and come back the same way he left” “Did he even sit down or work?” “He didn’t have a spot or wrinkle.”

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving daughter, Jennifer Jackson; son-in-law, Robert F. Jackson Jr.; granddaughter, Kirsten Jackson; and grandson, Robert F. “Trey” Jackson III; as well as a host of faithful cousins and devoted friends.

Funeral services began at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Lester Lackey & Sons Funeral Home Chapel, 1163 Reynolds St. SW, Covington. Pastor Cecil Rozier was the eulogist. Burial followed at Westside Cemetery.

Jennifer, Bob, Kirsten and Trey would like to express sincere appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all who rendered deeds of kindness and thoughtfulness during the illness and passing of our dad/grandad. A very special thanks to the Sandhill Community, Nettie Ponder, Judy Henderson, Lois Smith and Lisa Maddox, as well as Willie Head, Thomas Cullins, Paul Clark, Roger Smith and Tim Goolsby. May God continue to shower you with blessings from above.
