Mrs. Helen C. Ricks of Covington, 87, passed away March 6. She was born in Griffin, to Percy and Rosie (Berry) Christian, was a lifelong resident of the Oak Hill Community and faithful member of Covington Church of God. Mrs. Ricks enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and baking. She was friendly to everyone and never met a stranger. Mrs. Ricks was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, J.W. Ricks; one brother and two sisters; and daughter-in-law Lula Ricks.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Donald Day of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Howard and Sarah Ricks of Panama City Beach, Fla., Wayne Ricks of Covington; grandchildren Tonya and Marlon Golden of Oxford, Sabrina and Richard Greenhaw of Smith Station, Ala., Michael and Cheré Day, Jeff and Robin Day, Beth and Shane Carter, Amy and David Jones, all of Covington, Tammy and Jerry Hazlett of Lynn Haven, Fla., Kimberly Cummings of Albany, Wayne Bailey of Panama City Beach, Fla.; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Russell and Dot Ricks of Covington; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ricks will be held 2 p.m. today, March 8, at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home located at 1215 Access Road. The Rev. Larry Bennett and the Rev. Gene Byrd will officiate, and interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Covington Church of God, 5158 Newton Drive, Covington, GA 30014.
