Mr. Harry Hugh English Jr., died Nov. 14 in Decatur.

The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hugh (Jessie Mae Mitchell) English Sr., he was born in 1946 in Newton County, the second of 11 children. One brother Crawford Lee English recently preceded him in death. Mr. English was raided and educated in Newton County. He left Covington at an early age and started a life in Atlanta. A hard worker, Mr. English worked for Coca Cola Company in Atlanta for many years. After, he worked for Purirs Construction Company, retiring in 2003.

Surviving are wife Janie L. Ali of Decatur; step-children Jenell Ali, Faimah Ray, John Zakkee Ali Jr., Zahir Ali, Lateefah Harris; brothers Mr. and Mrs. Harvey (Lucy) English, Mr. and Mrs. Roosevelt (Nellie) English, Mr. Bobby Joe English, Mr. Willie Raymond English, all of Covington; sisters Mrs. Alice Ree English of West Mifflin, Pa., Ms. Dorothy Smith, Ms. Mary Frances English, Ms. Annette English, Ms. Sara English, all of Covington; sisters-in-law Mrs. Myrtis English, Mrs. Mary Ann Hart; devoted friend Mr. Johnny Smith; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Bethabara Baptist Church with Pastor Carl Jones and the Rev. William H. Gaither officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
