Harris T. Shepard

Mr. Harris T. Shepard, 86, of Mansfield passed away Feb. 19. The son of James and Agnes Shepard, he was born in 1926 in Downing, Wis. Mr. Shepard served his country proudly in the United States Marines Corps during World War II and serving and retiring from the United States Army with a total of 21 years. A devoted family man, he loved being outside working around his farm, being on his tractor and four wheeler, while spending time with his family and friends. He loved life and laughter. Mr. Shepard is a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Conyers. He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita Naomi Bennett Shepard on May 18, 1999; they were married for 51 years at that time.

Mr. Shepard is survived by his wife Jean Jones Shepard; children and spouses Sandra and Mickey Wilkerson of Mansfield, Cheryll and James Bailey of Dallas, Thomas Shepard of Mansfield, Theresa and Joe Alberts of Cumming, Chris “Cricket” and Robert Judy of Warrenton, Chris and Wayne Mize of Conyers, Edie and David Adair of Eatonton, Buz and Andrea Jones of Mansfield, David and Kathy Jones of King George, Va., and Kenny and Maria Jones of Conyers; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Delores Shepard of Rhinelander, Wis., along with 25 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous other family and close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 23, at the Chapel of J. C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Commerford officiating. Interment will follow at New Covington Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 22
