Grace Pollett Walker of Porterdale, passed away September 22, 2010, at the age of 78. She enjoyed reading, camping, collecting angels and dog statues. Mrs. Walker loved listening to bluegrass gospel music, and was an Elvis fan in her younger years. Her pride and joy and was her little Chihuahua, “Baby”. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Flora Raydene Thomason; son, Larry Wayne Pollett, Sr.; first husband, Robert Wray Pollett in 1983, and second husband, Charles Henry Walker in 2008; her parents, Benny C. and Flora (Cunard) Johnston; and three sisters and one brother. Survivors include her grandchildren, Dawn Flanigan, Harold "Hal" Stapp, Jr., Waynette Cooler, Lawayne (Ronnie) Smith, Larry "Bo" Pollett, Jr., Donna (Steve) Pierce, Tony (Cindy) Thomason; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jessie C. Johnston, Sr. of Covington; daughter-in-law, Louise Pollett of Greensboro; several nieces, nephews, and her chihuahua, “Baby”. Funeral Services for Mrs. Walker will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010, 2:30 PM, at Porterdale Presbyterian Church, with Rev. William L. Herndon officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, Saturday, September 25, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM; and Sunday, one hour prior to her service.
