Mrs. Doris T. Williams, 86, of Oxford, passed away May 30. Mrs. Williams was an active member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed working with the youth at her church and both the local Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and often participated in different functions with the activist group from Mt. Pleasant Church.
Mrs. Williams loved her family dearly and cherished her time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence Don Williams; grandson Toby Williams; parents Starlen R. and Nora Mae (Baker) Thomas; and her brother Dalton Thomas.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law Patricia and David Bentley of Rutledge, Donna Almand Shope of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Brenda Williams of Oxford; grandchildren Jody Williams, Corey Williams, Josh Weathers, Melanie Weathers, Matt Bentley, Owen Bentley, Cain Bentley, Cain Almand, Jaime Almand Pitts and Dalton Almand; great-grandchildren Haley Williams, Noah Williams, Hannah Williams, Gabe Williams, Gwen Williams, Taylor Bentley, Macayla Bentley, Braylee Almand, Wyatt Almand, Luke Almand, Maddox Pitts, Lane Pitts and Dawson Almand; and several nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Williams will be held at 2 p.m., today, June 2, at the Chapel of Caldwell and Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with the Rev. Charles Swaney and the Rev. Horace Parr officiating and interment following in Oxford Historical Cemetery.
