Denise Collins Thompson age 48 of Covington passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. Ms. Thompson grew up in Rockdale County where she was a member of the first graduating class of Heritage High School and a member of Smyrna Presbyterian Church. Ms. Thompson started her career with Big Apple grocery store as a clerk in the meat department and continued working at Food Giant and Cub Foods for over 19 years. She enjoyed fishing.Ms. Thompson is preceded in death by her sister: Stephanie Stephenson. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Nicholas and Shelby Thompson; father and stepmother: John “Stumpy” and Rita Collins; mother and stepfather: Charlotte Collins and Ray Dutton; boyfriend: Terry Albertch; several aunts, uncles and cousins.The family will receive friends at Wheeler Funeral home from 6-8PM Friday, November 6, 2009. The funeral service for Ms. Thompson will be 11:00AM Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Smyrna Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mark George officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
