Mr. Daniel Lee Hicks, 40, of Covington, passed away on Nov. 22.

He was a graduate of Douglas County High School and attended the University of West Georgia. Mr. Hicks' passion was food service, and he loved watching people enjoy the food he had prepared. His nickname was "Chef Dino." He enjoyed fishing and was an avid Georgia fan. He also enjoyed spending time with children and was known as the peacekeeper in his family.

Survivors include his fiancé Jennifer York and two children Seaver and Robinson of Pinehurst; father Robert L. Hicks Sr. of Covington; mother Rebecca L. Hicks of Hudson, N.C.; sisters and brother-in-law Kimberly H. and Ray Caudill, and Heather Hicks, all of Hudson, N.C.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert L. Hicks Jr. of Orlando, Fla., James E. and Melissa Hicks of Douglasville, and Gregory L. and Sara Hicks of Covington; grandfather James L. Hicks also of Covington; and 14 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Hicks was held Nov. 25, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, in Covington, with Rev. Richard Gravitt officiating.
