Curry Thomas Haynes, 71, of White Plains, died Sunday, July 16, 2017 at Athens Regional Hospital of cancer. He was the son of the late “Bobbie” and Curry T. Haynes, of Oxford. He was married to Kathy Weems Haynes, of Douglasville. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Sarah (Haynes) and Danny Standard, of Oxford, a nephew and his wife Gavin and Fuyu Woodruff and niece Amy Woodruff.

Curry/Tommy will be remembered here for his service in Vietnam (receiving 10 purple hearts), establishing the Newton County EMT’s and running the fixed-base operation at the Covington Airport where he taught many locals to fly and skydive.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace Fellowship, 1971 S. Main St., Greensboro, GA 30642. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday as well. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grace Fellowship Church or Penfield Christian Home, Penfield, GA.
