On February 14, 1936, Charles Rudolph Terrell B.K.A. “Shorty” was born to the late Mr. & Mrs. Gabe (Ida) Terrell.

Shorty attended Dixie Elementary and Washington Street High School. As a young man, he worked in the fields, plowing and planting with his father, Gabe. Later, he worked on different farms around the Mansfield area. “Circle G” Jackie Spell, Hays Farm, Tilmand Towns Farm and his last employer Brent Gallaway Farm.

Shorty loved farming, big tractors and big Ford trucks. Everyone in Mansfield and the surrounding area knew him. He just enjoyed being around people and he never met a stranger, He loved everyone and if he had a dime you had it too.

He departed his earthly life on Aug. 12, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr.& Mrs. Gabe (Ida) Terrell, three brothers, Mr. Grady Terrell, Mr. Willie Terrell and Mr. Robert Terrell.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories, two brothers, Mr. Henry Terrell and Mr. Johnny Terrell. A special nephew, Mr. Tony Terrell, who was his caregiver in his senior days. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A very special friend and co-worker, Mr. Richard Drisco.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19 at 1 p.m. at Poplar Hill AME Church, at 623 Poplar Hill Road, in Covington, with Rev. Nicolene Durham and Rev. Gerald Terrell officiating.
