Buddy Weemes of Mansfield, passed away April 20, 2012, at the age of 91. Mr. Weemes was a veteran, of the United States Navy, having served his country during World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Weemes enjoyed carpentry, building furniture, and playing practical jokes. He loved his beagles, reading, and hunting; but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Mr. Weemes was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Virginia (Kitchens) Weemes; and his parents, Randolph and Bessie (Hutchins) Weemes, Sr.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Liz Weemes; daughter, Ann Rhodes, all of Mansfield; granddaughters, Rebecca Bruce, Melissa Hewett, both of Oklahoma, Christi Howell of Mississippi; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mr. Weemes will be held Monday, April 23, 2012, 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Pastor Darrell Allen officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, April 22, from 4:00-7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jasper County Library, 319 E. Green Street, Monticello, GA 31064; or Prospect United Methodist Church, 84 Barnes Mountain Road, Mansfield, GA 30055.
