Funeral Home

After fighting a valiant battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma for 10 years, Brent “Phil” McGill died peacefully in Athens Regional Medical Center.

He was an amazing optimist and always looked positively at every situation. With his indomitable spirit, he taught others how to live life to the fullest. He graduated with honors from Athens Academy in 2003 and cum laude at The University of Georgia in 2011 as a Chi Phi fraternity member. Mr. McGill enjoyed poker, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents Nancy McGill, Paul and Lynne McGill; his brother Don and wife Jenine; sister Jennifer and husband Lynn; and grandparents Frances McGill, Linda and Delano Harper. He is also the proud “Uncle B” of Molly, Sara and Jack.

We would like to thank all of his friends and family who comforted him through his journey here on earth.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in memory of Brent “Phil” McGill to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Georgia Chapter, 3715 Northside Parkway Building 400 Northcreek, Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30327.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m., tomorrow, April 13, at the First United Methodist Church, South Campus, 4741 Carey Station Road, Greensboro, GA 30642 with Dr. Jay Hodges officiating. A visitation will take place at 9:30 a.m. at the church.
