Mr. Arthur L. "Boopie" Brown died July 24. The son of Mollie Byrd Brown and the late Robert Sanders Brown, he was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1946. He was preceded in death by sister Geraldine "Pat" Hull. Mr. Brown was raised in Covington and attended R. L. Cousins High School and was a member of Livingston Chapel CME Church and the United Praise Christian Center. He was employed by Charles Flowers Trucking, RMK Trucking and the city of Covington. Mr. Brown enjoyed being a member of the Outback Blues Band, the Slow Rollers Social Club and the Wind Jammers Motorcycle Club of Covington. He married Elizabeth Wise in 2002, and they built a shop in the back of their home where he spent many hours working. Known as the "Outback," Mr. and Mrs. Brown hosted many parties and events there. Mr. Brown enjoyed playing baseball, traveling, listening to the blues, riding motorcycles and horses, picking his guitar, working on cars and making friends. He loved to play practical jokes and having fun.

Surviving are wife Elizabeth Wise Brown; mother Mollie Brown; sons and their families Travis Brown, Jason and Michelle Wise, Quentin Wise, Jeffery Wise, Xerxes and Bonita Brown; daughters and their families Tammy and Isaac Wilborn, Jackie and Jerome Ivey, Shidana Johnson, Sonja Brown; brother Willard Gene Brown; sisters and their husbands Barbara and Willie E. Wise, Hortense Ransom, Valeria and James Adams, Katheryn and Marvin Banks; his wife's brothers and sisters and their spouses Rose McKibben, Annie and Thomas White, Billy and Edna Wise, Willie J. and Louise Wise, O.J. and Gussie Wise, Grady and Heather Wise, Bobby Wise; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, July 29, at United Praise Christian Center, Highway 36, with the Rev. Marvin Parks officiating. Interment will follow at Flat Shoals Cemetery.

Mr. Wesley Berg, aged 67, of Newborn, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was born on March 6, 1958, in Atlanta. Mr. Berg grew up in Decatur and graduated from Shamrock High School. He was a dedicated Christian who had a passion for mission work and helping others, frequently traveling to disaster-stricken areas to assist those in need. Mr. Berg was a committed member of Centennial Baptist Church. As a hardworking individual, he owned and operated Berg Heating and Air.

He was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Margine Tribble, and his stepsister, Lynn Daniel. Mr. Berg is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dawn Berg; his siblings, Vincent Berg, Judy Berg, Katherine Berg, Karen Berg, and Krysten Berg; his stepbrother, Bobby Tribble, and Carol Schneider; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2025, at Centennial Baptist Church, 5321 Brownwood Rd, Rutledge, GA 30663, with Reverend Terry Richardson and Reverend Wilburn Hill officiating.
