Antavious Marquez Smith was born Nov. 6, 1998, to Antonio Bernard Hurst and Alice Smith Hurst in Covington.
He received his education through the Newton County School System and was enrolled into Georgia Piedmont College to obtain his GED and Certificate in Welding. Well known by the nickname “Lil’T” Antavious was full of life and enjoyed making others laugh by telling jokes. He also enjoyed rapping, listening to music, hanging with his friends in traffic and spending time with his nieces and nephew.
On Nov. 16, 2017, Antavious was called home by his Heavenly Father. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. JC Hardrick and Mrs. Margaret Glover Smith.
He leaves behind his loving parents, Antonio & Alice Hurst; one brother, Demarcus King; three sisters, Jalisha (Marquis) Dukes, Kendra Lackey and Jireh Turner; grandparents, Lonnie Wayne Hurst and Barbara Vinson; one nephew, two nieces and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Though he will be missed by many, the family is committed to keep his memory alive.
A funeral was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29 at Bethabara Missionary Baptist Church, at 11392 Highway 36, in Covington, with the Rev. Carl Jones officiating.
