A woman was seen tearing the tags off of several items that she had selected while browsing in the Covington Walmart. The woman continued through the store with her friend and when they proceeded to check out, the friend purchased several items, but the woman did not pay for any of the items of which she had ripped the tags off. The woman later attempted to leave the store with the following non-purchased items: one anklet, two toe rings and multiple clothing items. The total sum of the stolen items was $137.76 before tax.

The woman was arrested and transported to the Newton County Jail. She was charged with theft by taking and issued a criminal trespass warning from Walmart.
