ATLANTA - The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office says a woman found dead in an Atlanta house after it was demolished was killed by falling debris.

Investigator Mary Beth Hauptle said Monday an autopsy conducted Sunday showed the woman died of blunt force trauma, caused when the house was demolished Saturday.

Capt. J.L. Bundrige with the Atlanta Fire Department said the body was discovered as contractors removed debris from the site.

Hauptle says the woman was not carrying identification, and fingerprints are being used to try to establish her identity.

Witnesses said they heard a cry for help and then a moan after a backhoe began tearing down the abandoned house near downtown Atlanta.

Fire department Battalion Chief Todd Edwards says contractors said they checked the house before the demolition started.
