Covington police arrested Andrea Davis on Sunday after she reportedly told officers in DeKalb County she was kidnapped from her Covington home on Friday night. According to a report from the Covington Police Department, an officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office called Covington police and said a man took Davis against her will and held her in a car until Sunday. The woman told police she was able to escape and contact police at a Chevron gas station in DeKalb County. The DCSO officer took Davis to Salem Road in Rockdale County and called the Rockdale County Police Department and an officer with RCPD took Davis to the Covington Police Department. Covington police contacted Davis' daughter at their home who said her mother went out on a date on Friday night and was not under duress. Davis' daughter told police her mother called her on Saturday and asked her to pick her up from a hotel in DeKalb County because the man left her there. Her daughter told her no. Davis' daughter said her mother called her again on Sunday morning and asked for a ride because she had to go to work at Wendy's and her daughter said no. Police contacted the manager at Davis' job who said he spoke with Davis on Sunday around 9 a.m. and she told her she would be at work late because she was in Kentucky. Davis did not tell anyone about the kidnapping. Police questioned Davis about the kidnapping and she again told police she was taken against her will. Police told Davis they spoke with her daughter and her boss about the kidnapping and she admitted that the kidnapping was a lie to get a ride back home. She said she went to a party with a man on Friday night in DeKalb County and the man left her there. She said she needed a ride to work so she made up the lie. Davis was charged with false statement and taken to the Newton County Jail.
Home burglarized at Leafstone Apartments Complex
According to a report, deputies responded to an apartment home at Leafstone Apartments on Aug. 31 in reference to a burglary around 2 p.m. Deputies spoke with two women who said they left their apartment around 10 a.m. to go to softball practice and when they returned that afternoon, they discovered someone entered their apartment and stole items from the home. Deputy Cortney Morrison said deputies did not see any damages to the door. She said two laptops and a flat screen TV were stolen. The items stolen were an estimated $4,100.
Juvenile arrested for aggravated assault after threatening to kill family
Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff's Office responded to a home at Livingston Way in reference to a 911 hang-up call on Tuesday, Aug. 28. According to a family violence report from the NCSO, dispatch told deputies that a 16 year old was in the kitchen with two knives saying if anyone came near her they were going to die. When deputies arrived to the scene, they found the juvenile with two knives in her hands and her grandfather standing in the kitchen by the counter. A deputy ordered the girl to get on the ground and she did. She was then arrested and taken to the youth detention center. The girl was charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats and acts.
Employee with Sellars Motor's reports stolen rental car
An employee with Sellars Motor's located on Ga. Highway 162 told deputies a woman did not return one of their rental vehicles. Deputy Cortney Morrison with the Newton County Sheriff's Office said a customer's vehicle was towed to Sellars Repair Shop for repairs on Aug. 18. According to the report, Cheri Dargon rented a 2007 PT Cruiser for a weekend and was supposed to return the car on Monday, Aug. 20. Morrison said the employee made contact with Dargon by phone and she told the employee she would return the car but never showed up. Morrison said the employee went to the address provided by Dargon and found out it was vacant. Morrison said the employee was advised of the warrant process.
