ATLANTA - Police say a woman fleeing from an officer was killed when her car struck a house in East Atlanta.

Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs says an officer noticed the woman failing to maintain her lane late Thursday night. He says the officer checked the car's license tag and learned the car's owner was wanted on drug charges.

Hobbs says the car sped off when the officer attempted to make a traffic stop, and that the officer lost sight of the vehicle. Hobbs says the officer crested a hill and saw that the car had run into a house.

Hobbs says the woman was taken by ambulance to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she died. Her identity has not been released, but Hobbs says she was in her 20s.
