Covington Councilwoman Hawnethia Williams was elected to the Board of Directors for the Georgia Municipal Association during the association's annual meeting in Savannah June 25.

Williams will serve as president of GMA's 5th District. The district includes cities in the following counties: Jackson, Madison, Elbert, Barrow, Clarke, Oglethorpe, Morgan, Greene, Newton, Jasper, Walton and Oconee.

Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical assistance services to its member cities.
