Update: NCSO identifies victim of weekend truck fatality
police line

The victim in the truck accident on the Access Road at the Yellow River Sunday evening has been identified as Valentine Gayle, 48, of Lithonia, according to Newton County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Cortney Morrison.

The accident occurred before 8:41 p.m. and involved two dump trucks.

The driver of the other truck suffered non-life threatening injuries, according to Morrison.

The Department of Transportation was on scene, due to the Access Road being shut down, and the Emergency Management Association was there as well, due to diesel fuel being in the river.

According to Morrison, Chancey's towing removed the vehicles Sunday night and charges are pending against the other driver.
