Two people were shot early Sunday morning when more than 30 rounds were fired at a home where an adult birthday was being held in The Silos off Brown Bridge Road.

A female was shot in the leg and an armed security guard, hired for the party, was shot in the arm, according to Newton County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Cortney Morrison. Multiple shots from different caliber weapons were fired into the home and cars parked there, as well as the home across the street.

According Morrison, investigators learned the party was crashed by uninvited men. Although there was no immediate issue, some guests have told investigators that a verbal altercation ensued between the party crashers and the guests at the party. Shortly thereafter the shooting occurred.

Both of those shot were transported to local hospitals and are expected to recover completely.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the NCSO at (648) 625-1400 or online at newtonsheriffga.org.
