Two men were arrested recently for molesting young girls, according to law enforcement officials.
The first man, a 33-year-old Covington man, was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation and cruelty to children, after a child who was known to him reported improprieties to her mother.
Larry Arthur Kruel was arrested Tuesday, following an investigation by the Newton County Sheriff's Office into the allegations.
According to NCSO Lt. Keith Crum, the 9-year-old girl told her mother that Kruel had molested her. Crum said he believed it happened only one time and included inappropriate touching of the child.
Kruel has no criminal history involving any sort of sexual crimes, according to Crum. He remains in the Newton County Jail with no bond set as of yet.
The second man, a Ghana native was arrested Sept. 5, charged with the ongoing molestation of a now 16-year-old girl.
The teenager reportedly made an outcry to her high school counselor, telling her that 40-year-old Zamani Tarlyn Davis had been touching her inappropriately for several years. The counselor notified school resource officers who took the information to Newton County Sheriff's investigators. They found enough probable cause to arrest Davis.
Davis was charged with aggravated child molestation and sexual battery. He spent two days in the Newton County Jail before bonding out on a $19,450 property bond.
