Turner Lake pavilion named in honor of Rucker Ginn

The pavilion at Turner Lake Park will honor one of Newton County’s most recognizable figures after a motion by the Newton County Board of Commissioners Tuesday night.

Those resting at the Turner Lake Park pavilion will be visiting the Rucker Ginn Pavillion after a name change was granted by the Newton County Recreation Board and the Kiwanis Club of Newton County.

The pavilion was previously the Kiwanis Club Pavilion at Turner Lake Park but the club has decided to honor the late Rucker Ginn.

“I felt it would be a great honor,” said Anthony Avery, Newton County Recreation Commission Director.

My father loved this county,” Marshall Ginn said. “I’m glad for you all to remember him in this way.”
