The Fulton County Medical Examiner's office has ruled the death of a Conyers man who fell to his death at Turner Field a suicide. The office reportedly made the ruling last week after meeting with the family of Ronald Homer to discuss the findings.

The Medical Examiner's office said in a statement issued Friday, "There is no indication that Ronald Homer had any injuries other than those sustained as a result of a descent from an 85-foot height and impacting the pavement below. The cause of death is blunt force trauma. The manner of death, however, is still under investigation. Toxicologic testing (which will take weeks), review of accounts from witnesses, and further investigation are required to classify the manner of death. Further information will not be available from the Medical Examiner until toxicology tests are completed and the other information cited above is obtained and reviewed."

Homer fell in the parking lot just after the rain-delayed Aug. 12 game against the Phillies started at 9 p.m. He was transported to Atlanta Medical where he later died.

Homer, 29, was a 2001 graduate of Rockdale County High School where he had been the captain of the basketball team, said his uncle. Ron was a sports fanatic, following everything from baseball to NASCAR and mixed martial arts. He receivied an academic scholarship to study sports medicine at Emory University's Oxford College.

In recent years, after a brief marriage and divorce, he was living at home with his parents and working for various landscaping jobs and companies. But he had extended family around him - he and his father were close and the Homers have roots in Rockdale going back seven generations
