The Newton County Health Careers Expo for middle school students has been canceled.

Sherri Davis-Viniard, public relations director for Newton County Schools, said the event, which was set to be held at the Newton College and Career Academy from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. tomorrow, has been cancelled due to low registration numbers. She said the event would be rescheduled for a later date.

The Washington Street Community Center, Newton County Schools, Newton Medical Center and several physicians and community members were joining together to hold the career fair for students in grades 6-8.

The expo invited middle school students to talk with several area physicians and other medical professionals to learn more about the areas of their work.
