If you're looking for a way to delight your mom for Mother’s Day, the Phoenix Pass nonprofit for homeless women and children is offering a unique opportunity designed to make her feel like a queen.

The transitional housing program will hold an afternoon tea fundraiser at the historic Twelve Oaks Bed and Breakfast in Covington Sunday, May 12, 2 – 5 p.m. at 2176 Monticello Street, Covington. The elegant antebellum home is said to be the inspiration for Twelve Oaks in “Gone with the Wind,” and was recently featured in the television show “The Vampire Diaries.”

The tea party will serve catered refreshments such as finger sandwiches, scones and petit fours.

Along with live music and a photographer for professional portraits, there will be a silent auction throughout the beautiful grounds. Items up for auction include a piano, cosmetics, restaurant dinners, beautiful dresses for young children, home repair service, graphic design services, barbecue baskets, a grill, and Pandora jewelry.

“I can’t think of anything better to do for a Mother’s Day afternoon,” said coordinator Angie Tracey.

The mothers that are part of the Phoenix Pass program will also be featured guests at the party.

The Phoenix Pass program provides housing for homeless women and children for up to two years, giving families a chance to get on their feet, save money and get further training.

An educational component for adult residents is part of the requirements.

Tickets are $15 each and available at Phoenix Pass or by calling 770-760-1020.
