Summer art camp opens registration

The Southern Heartland Art Gallery will be hosting its annual art camps in June and July for children ages six through 12.

The gallery offers two sessions with two different lesson plans.

"Last year, we did this as some parents wanted their children to attend two camps and not repeat the lesson plan," said Susan Wahl, Finance Chair for the gallery. "So, we have one lesson plan for [the] green session, one for [the] blue session."

The green session will be offered June 11-14 or July 9-12. The blue session will be offered June 25-28 or July 16-19. Each session will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Partial scholarships will be available for campers and their parents who cannot afford the fully price of the camp. If interested, inquire about the limited number of partial scholarships at the art gallery.

The application is available online at southernheartlandart.com. Campers can register in person Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or Saturday and Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers can also register over the phone with an accepted credit card.

The camp is $165 per session. A 15 percent discount is available for registering more than one child. An advanced camp for teenagers will also be offered by Gallery Director Elise Hammond. For more information on the advanced camp, contact Hammond at elisehammond@bellsouth.net.
