Students earn honors at science competition

Several Newton County students took honors in the recent Griffin RESA 2011 Regional Science & Engineering Fair.
One student from Newton High School, Amanda Manowski, took top honors in the Senior Division.
In the Special Awards category, Zach Chambers of Indian Creek Middle School earned the Ricoh Americas Corporation recognition.
Four students from Indian Creek Middle School were winners in the Junior Division, Zach Chambers, Emmy Jordan, Melissa Willliams and Allison Ballew.
Seven Indian Creek students placed second: Brantley Proffitt, Ben Hayes, Caitlin Smith, Katelyn Kennedy, Scott Reich, Alli Coberth and Hannah Kearney.
Nine Indian Creek students finished third: Greg Hill, Matthew Richardson, Alexis Allen, Allison Simmons, Tymbre Manning, Sage Manning, Saylor Glanton, Sara Hodge and Kassidy Livington.
.Isaiah Washington and Alexandria Turcotte, students from Cousins Middle School, earned second-place honors. Cousins students placing third were Tonisha Brown, Davontae Clemons, Jordan Guffey and Cameron Hardeman.
The 2011 Griffin RESA Regional Science & Engineering Fair is a regional competition among middle and high schools in the Griffin RESA region.
