Southern Heartland announces Artful Harvest winners

The painting “Three Sisters,” by Bernadette Smith won first place recently at the Southern Heartland’s Annual Artful Harvest Art Show.

Athens resident Margaret Agner’s piece “Sacred Bonds” was awarded Best in Show.
Second place went to Susan Thompson Wahl for “Autumn Light,” while third place went to James Powell for “Isaac I Am.”

The art guild encourages Junior Art entries, by allowing art to be entered with no entry fee for artists under 18. Samantha Temple took First Place, High School, for “Riley Road Rebel,” Clayton Schutte was first in Middle School for “Falling Colors,” and Ryan Braswell won with a clay piece, “Wall Pocket.”

Honorable mentions were Sam Traina, Margaret Caldwell Brown, Pat Colquett Gidusko, Joe Don Willis, Jessica Rutherford, Cindy Murphy, Amelia Garrison (student) and Devon Braswell (student).

The annual art show is sponsored by United Bank, with award reception hosted by The Heartland’s Woman’s Club, and is open for viewing until Oct. 8 at Southern Heartland Art Gallery, 1132 Monticello Street, on the corner of Washington and Monticello Streets.
