Laura and David Stomackin were found dead Thursday morning inside their home in Fairview Chase subdivision. According to Newton County Sheriffs Office Lt. Keith Crum, a call came in to Newton County 911 around 10:15 a.m. and the caller who has yet to be identified threatened violence against a woman. Deputies made their way to the home but were unable to make contact with the residents. The Covington/Newton County SWAT Team were called to the scene and, after several attempts to make contact with the residents, made entry into the home around 11:30 a.m. Once inside they found the couple deceased. There were no other people inside the home at the time, although the couple does have two adult children. Officials confirmed Friday that Laura died from a gunshot wound and David from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
