An armed robbery suspect was apprehended just 30 minutes after robbing a gas station on Crowell Road Thursday morning.
Kevin John Marlowe, 37, is accused of brandishing a handgun at the Liberty Gas Station clerk on Crowell Road. Deputies from the Newton County Sheriff's Office were called around 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The clerk reportedly said the robber, later identified as 37-year-old Marlowe, left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Deputies, investigators and a K-9 Officer were called out and set up a perimeter. They tracked Marlowe down approximately 30 minutes later inside the Riverside Mobile Home Park where he lived, according to NCSO 1st Lt. Mark Mitchell.
An amount of cash was also recovered, but investigators are looking to see exactly how much was taken in the robbery.
Marlowe was transported to the Newton County Detention Center where he remains, charged with armed robbery.
