Thousands walked around an illuminated track at The Church at Covington Friday night and Saturday morning. After the presentation of colors by the Newton High School Marine JROTC, the evening kicked off with the survivors walk. Members from each team that had booths around the track selling goods to raise money for the American Cancer Society took the second lap of the evening. Other themed laps throughout the night included the lap of silence and memorial laps.

Eighty teams and 772 participants participated in Relay for Life, raising $252,144 as of Tuesday morning.
