WOODBINE, Ga. - A section of old railroad tracks converted to hiking and biking trail just got a mile longer in coastal Georgia.
A new 1.25-mile section of the Georgia Coast Rail-Trail opened Saturday in Camden County in Georgia's southeast corner.
This latest stretch gives walkers and bikers nearly 3 miles of trail - some paved, some not - starting at the boardwalk on the Satilla River. The rest of the trail in Woodbine was completed years ago.
The Georgia Coast Rail-Trail follows the path of the former CSX Transportation railroad track over 68 miles from Riceboro to the Georgia-Florida line. Rails and crossties have been removed to allow hiking and biking.
