The Covington mayor's race has dominated the conversation this election season, but partially lost in the shuffle are the two contested East Ward council races.

The Covington News and Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce combined efforts and asked each of the council candidates seven questions apiece. Selected responses from each candidate are included below, while the full set of responses will be on covnews.com.

The mayor's race is also included, and Ronnie Johnston and Bobby Sigman were asked six questions apiece.

Early voting is taking place until 5 p.m. Friday at the Newton County Board of Elections, 1113 Usher St. NW. Voting on Election Day, Nov. 8, will take place at Covington City Hall from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
