COVINGTON, Ga. — There has been visible progress made on an expansion project four months after the Newton County Sheriff’s Office held a groundbreaking for its headquarters addition at 15151 Alcovy Road in Covington, a news release stated.
Barnsley Construction Group, the project contractor, recently set the foundation and erected the walls for the additional 7,000 square feet of administrative space and 3,000 square feet of training space.
The expansion project, budgeted at $2.9 million, was funded by the 2017 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) and has the expected completion time of five months, dependent upon weather conditions.
