Porterdale Elementary hosts Parent University

Parents are invited to Porterdale Elementary Nov. 15 to attend Parent University. A free event with several speakers, the goal is to work to make sure students get the very best from both school and home.

Entitled "It Takes a Village," the event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Porterdale Elementary School gymnasium. A mystery reader will begin the event by explaining that "It Takes a Village" is about. Then Mr. Science will help parents explore the world of science, followed by Paul Milliken from Fox 5 News, who will speak about how becoming a good reader will open up a world of possibilities for students, then Robin Turi from the University of Georgia will being social studies to life by explaining the differences and similarities of Georgia Native American artifacts.
