Porterdale Elementary School was cleared after receiving a telephoned threat concerning the safety of the school Friday morning.

According to the Newton County School System law enforcement was notified and the school evacuated. 

Parents were asked not to drive to school to pick up their students, in order to keep the roads clear for public safety officials.

A school messenger call went out around 11:30 announcing the all-clear.
