Academics

Sharon M. Hillman of Covington, a junior majoring in history, has been named to the Dean’s List at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Va., for the spring 2013 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must take 12 credit hours – graded on a A-F option -- and earn a 3.4 grade-point average.

Angie Hurtt,daughter of Geni and Perry Hurtt of Covington, has been named to the second semester honor roll at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, N.C., where she graduate in May. To be eligible for the honor roll, a student must maintain a weighted grade-point average of 3.5 or higher in at least five academic courses while maintaining the status of student in good standing with the Judicial Board.

Callie Marissa Roper of Social Circle has been named to the Dean’s Lisst for the 2013 spring semester at North Greenville University in Tigerville, S.C. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must maintain a 3.5 grade-point average while taking at least 12 hours.

Graduates

The Georgia Institute of Technology presented degrees to approximately 2,700 undergraduate and graduate students during the school’s 245th commencement exercises. Those graduates included:
