JACKSON - Authorities say a Georgia pastor played a key role on Easter Sunday in ending the search for a suspect accused of killing two family members.

The Henry Daily Herald reports that the Rev. Eddy Wright was preaching about the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday when his cell phone began to vibrate repeatedly.

Wright said it was Herman Leonard Jackson III calling - the suspect police were searching for - and the pastor agreed to meet with him.

The pastor said the two prayed together, and that he told Wright to do the right thing and surrender.

Butts County Sheriff Gene Pope says Jackson surrendered to authorities Sunday. He's accused of killing his wife, Penny Phillips, and his 10-year-old daughter Saturday morning at their home near Jackson.

Jackson appeared at a Monday court hearing and asked for an attorney to be appointed to represent him. It was not immediately clear whether a lawyer had been chosen.
