The first readings are done, and now the city of Oxford is set to hold a second round of hearings on Monday on a proposed change to the form of city government, a proposed homestead exemption and changes to the city’s retirement plan.

The Oxford City Council in a called meeting on Tuesday held hearings on changing the city’s form of government to one led by a full-time city manager, and a proposed $10,000 exemption for owner-occupied homes. The city also held a first reading on amendments to the retirement plan to provide a one-time incentive program that would provide an early retirement option for some city workers.

The second round of hearings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday, followed by a vote on the measures at 7 p.m. That session also will include consideration of an agreement to be entered into by the city, the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia and the city ofSandersville to purchase excess power generating reserve capacity.
