Decked out in official scouting uniforms with order forms in tow, Cub Scout Packs and Boy Scout Troops around the area are beginning their annual popcorn sale. The Atlanta Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, is excited for its 15th annual sales drive where popcorn lovers around the metro-area can, once again, take part in the world’s largest popcorn sale. This annual fundraiser gives youth the opportunity to earn money for camp, activities, trips and prizes. They can also earn money to be applied towards college scholarships.

Scouts in the Atlanta Area Council will sell a variety of popcorn products throughout the month. Products will arrive in November, in perfect time for holiday gift giving. Items are priced from $10 and include butter, butter light, caramel corn, trail’s mix, cheese flavor, and a 3-way tin of chocolate, caramel, and cheese flavors. A new addition this year is the delicious chocolaty triple delight. Many Atlanta residents choose to participate in "Operation Popcorn" sending popcorn to our dedicated service men and women and their families. For more information about how to place your popcorn order with Atlanta Area Council Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, call (770) 989-8820.

Each year, the popcorn sale enables local Scouting units to generate funds to support their activities throughout the year. Over 70 percent of the purchase price of the popcorn goes directly into local Scouting activities and projects. "Selling popcorn not only financially supports the Scouting units, it also helps develop the Scouts themselves," said Ron Hughes, Atlanta Area Council Popcorn Kernel. "Selling popcorn develops self-confidence and skills in the Scouts that they will benefit from for the rest of their lives. What a great way for our youth membership to have fun and learn about salesmanship."
