Halloween falls on Monday this year and, to answer the annual question, trick-or-treating for Covington and Newton County will take place on Monday.

There will not be an official city celebration this year, because Main Street Covington and Covington First Baptist Church have had to cancel their downtown event.

However, some neighborhoods are holding their trick-or-treating during the weekend, so be sure to check with specific homeowners' associations for details.

For parents who are concerned about the late hours on a school night or who aren’t sure they want their children walking door-to-door, several local churches will be hosting trunk-or-treat events. For a list of these events, see the community calendar on Page 3B.
