The Newton County Board of Commissioners did not conduct a vote or public business following an executive session to discuss personnel Wednesday.

One of the biggest personnel issues facing the county is the vacancy of county manager that will take place in mid-May. Current county manager Tom Garrett announced April 15 he would be stepping down to take the position of Public Works Director for Barrow County.

Garrett was promoted to county manager in September 2014 after serving as assistant since January 2014.
