A Newton County woman was killed Tuesday afternoon following a head-on collision with a Freightliner truck.

According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, 43-year-old Angela Renee Garrison was transported to Atlanta Medical where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Garrison was reportedly heading north on Ga. Highway 138 around 5 p.m. when she crossed the center line and struck the truck. According to Wright, Garrison was initially trapped in the vehicle.

The driver of the truck was treated and released on the scene.
