Newton Medical Center administrators and members of the NMC Auxiliary are inviting all golfers to the Auxiliary Autumn Action Golf Tournament Friday to benefit the hospital’s new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

"We really need players," said Sharon Barbour, NMC’s public relations director.

The tournament will begin at noon with registration starting at 10 a.m. at The Oaks Course on Crowell Road. The $125 registration fee includes lunch, beverages, green fees, carts, vendor fair and prize entries.

The highlight of the tournament will be a ball drop competition. Tickets can be purchased at the hospital volunteer services office or gift shop for $10. Friday a helicopter will drop golf balls on a certain hole from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. The first ball in the hole or the closest to the hole wins $1,000 and second place wins $500. Winners do not have to be present. Only 500 tickets will be sold.

Prizes also will be awarded to winners of a putting contest.

To register in the tournament call Martha Taylor in the NMC volunteer services office at (770) 788-0358 or e-mail her at mtaylor@newtonmedical.com.

If you are unable to play in Friday’s tournament but would still like to donate to the NICU, checks may be made payable to NMC Auxiliary and sent to Newton Medical Center Auxiliary, 5126 Hospital Drive, Covington, Ga. 30014. Mark checks for NICU.
